SEO Website Redesign: How We Rebuilt SEO Smooth in 4 Weeks

We just rebuilt seosmooth.com from the ground up in four weeks: faster load times, new service pages built around real search intent, Core Web Vitals finally passing, and one detail hidden in the homepage that we could not resist. Here is the full story.

Why We Decided to Rebuild

The old seosmooth.com was functional, but it was carrying technical debt from three years of incremental changes. Page speed scores were inconsistent. The service pages were thin and not well-differentiated. The site structure did not reflect how we actually work today or the full range of what we offer.

Core Web Vitals had also become a harder ranking signal than when the site was last built. We were advising clients to improve their Largest Contentful Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift numbers while quietly ignoring our own. That inconsistency needed to end.

The decision to do a full rebuild rather than a patch job came down to one question: will six months of incremental fixes get us where we need to be, or do we draw a clean line? The answer was obvious once we asked it.

What the 4-Week Rebuild Covered

Speed and Core Web Vitals

The first week was almost entirely technical. We audited every page load dependency, removed plugins that were adding render-blocking resources, and rebuilt the CSS architecture to eliminate unused styles on page load. The result was a measurable improvement in Largest Contentful Paint scores across the site.

We also moved to a leaner image pipeline. Every image is now properly sized, compressed, and served in modern formats. This matters more than most people realize. A single unoptimized hero image can cost you a full second on mobile, and a full second on mobile costs you conversions.

New Service Pages and Content Strategy

The old service pages were generic. The new ones are built around how clients actually search, the specific outcomes they want, and the questions they ask before they hire an agency. Each page has a clear focus keyword, a logical heading structure, and supporting content that addresses real objections.

We also expanded the scope of the site to cover service areas and industry verticals more explicitly. If a roofing company in Boca Raton searches for an SEO agency, we want a page that speaks directly to that context, not a generic “we do SEO” page that could belong to anyone.

This is the same approach we use for our SEO service clients: content should be specific enough to be trusted and broad enough to capture the full intent range around a topic.

Design Decisions

The visual redesign was intentional rather than cosmetic. We stripped out design elements that added visual weight without adding information. The navigation was simplified. The call-to-action hierarchy was rebuilt so that the most important conversion action on any given page is obvious, not buried.

Typography and spacing were tightened to improve readability on mobile, where more than half of our traffic arrives. A site that looks great on desktop but forces mobile visitors to zoom or scroll horizontally is a site that is losing leads it should be keeping.

A Star, Then a Black Hole: The Hero Easter Egg

We could not resist building something for the people who look closely.

The homepage hero runs on two layered particle systems: a 2D canvas that draws the connected network of points drifting across the background, and a 3D particle field rendered on top for depth. Running together is what gives the hero its sense of space.

Here is the part most people miss. Hover over the hero and hold still. The particles stop wandering and start pulling inward, gathering into a single bright star.

Hover the hero and hold still: the particles converge into a single bright star.

Keep holding, and the star does what a dying star actually does: it collapses. The light folds in on itself and forms a black hole, accretion ring and all.

Hold a moment longer and the star collapses into a black hole, accretion ring and all.

It is a small nod to how the universe works: a star burning bright, then collapsing into something that bends everything around it. It is also how we think about marketing. You gather attention into one bright point, then you make it impossible to look away. No library did this for us. Two hand-built scripts, tuned frame by frame, the same care we put into the parts of a site that move the numbers.

What This Means for Our Clients

A few things follow directly from this rebuild.

First, we have a sharper firsthand understanding of the friction involved in a real SEO website redesign, including the decisions that cost time, the shortcuts that come back as problems, and the things that genuinely move the needle. That context makes our client work better.

Second, when we show clients what a properly optimized site looks like, we can now point to our own as the example. The work has to be visible somewhere before it can be credible everywhere.

Third, the new content architecture on seosmooth.com is a live demonstration of the content strategy methodology we apply to client sites. The structure is intentional. The internal linking is logical. The keyword targeting is deliberate. You can audit it yourself.

The Honest Part

A four-week rebuild is fast. Fast means tradeoffs. There are pages we want to improve further, content gaps we have already identified, and technical items still on the list. We shipped what was ready and have a roadmap for what comes next.

That is also the honest advice we give clients. A perfect website launched in six months loses six months of traffic to a good website launched now. Done and improving beats planning and waiting.

If your website is holding your business back the way ours was holding us back, the conversation is straightforward. We will tell you exactly what we would do, in what order, and why. No pitch deck required.
